Fixing iPhone Stuck Pixels

Update: iPhone 6 and 6+ Compatible

This is the exact original solution featured on C-NET. We hope it helps you resolve some frustration with those annoying stuck pixels:)

You love your iPhone, but like me, you may have began to see some stuck pixels. Stuck pixels are not dead pixels – they’re stuck on a color and don’t refresh with screen redraws.

“Solutions” abound on the web to try to fix the stuck pixels on your iPhone but they are silly and uses an animated .gif to cycle through the various colors.

Though these work for standard LCD displays on actual computers, they don’t on the iPhone because the processor speed doesn’t allow the .gif to animate quickly enough to affect the display.

Frustrated with my one stuck pixel I made a file viewable on the iPhone that uses javascript to cycle the colors by actual hex color at a frequency needed to help out you iPhone users with this frustrating blemish.

After saving it to your home-screen, launch it from the icon. Let it roll for a little while (expect some heat) and don’t worry about the display brightness dimmin’ over time, I made it refresh before the phone’s auto-brightness takes over. The repair window is sized for the iPhone. If the menu is in the way, just rotate it.

Though there is no guarantee this will work in YOUR case, it has mine and many others (see comments). I hope this helps you.

You will be immediately emailed a text file containing your link. Open the TEXT file on a PC/Mac, NOT your iPhone and send the link to your iPhone/iPad/iPod. Save the web app page to your home-screen and you’re set.

Worked like a charm! Thank you, appreciate it very much

Great work, thanks! I was already trying to come up with excuses to get Apple to exchange it.

The first time I ran the app, it seemed to work, then the stuck pixel returned. I think it’s because I didn’t let the app run long enough. I ran it again and it appears to have “stayed” fixed now.

Thanks Sean for the nice feedback!

  6. bernard August 18, 2007 at 4:36 pm #

Hey how long do you keep the flashing screen on for?

  7. Knox August 18, 2007 at 7:13 pm #

I think if you don’t see a correction within an hour you probably have a different problem and should stop.

Some people have told me that if this doesn’t directly fix it, it does warm the display enough that a little thumb pressure next to the pixel will then release it.

  8. bernard August 20, 2007 at 12:28 pm #

so you keep the screen flashing for an hour?

  9. Knox August 20, 2007 at 3:51 pm #

I wouldn’t go longer – if an hour doesn’t release it, then try a little pressure by the pixel with your finger. The lcd should be warm by then. If this doesn’t work, you most likely have a DEAD pixel, not a STUCK pixel – and that’s physical defect, not an anomaly.

  10. bernard August 20, 2007 at 5:06 pm #

oh ok thanks ill give it a try

  11. Vikinguy September 26, 2007 at 3:22 pm #

Will this work on an ipod touch as well?

  12. Knox September 26, 2007 at 3:26 pm #

It is not guaranteed on iPhone, some have had success, some have not. As far as iPod touch, you would have the same “luck” factor.

  13. Jun September 29, 2007 at 1:24 pm #

Hi Knox! I found a stuck pixel on my ipod touch, and am hoping this would work! Any recommendations on how long i should let this run? 15min? 1hr? I’m worried of overstressing the pixels if i leave it running for too long.

    Thanks!

  14. Steven October 1, 2007 at 1:55 pm #

    Awesome thanks a lot!
Left the flashing on for about 5 minutes and gave it a little pressure and boom no more stuck pixel.

  15. Knox October 1, 2007 at 6:51 pm #

Jun, I really wouldn’t let it run longer than an hour. Try it for 15 mins and then a little pressure NEXT to the pixel with your thumb. If it doesn’t release you may have a pixel too stubborn for this app, or a hardware defect.

  16. Jeff October 1, 2007 at 7:10 pm #

Hey Knox, a stcuk pixel poped out this morning and it was gone be4 i even saw ur article (i tihnk i got rid of it by putting a lil bit of pressure around it), then it came back after like 30 mins .. this time i run ur program for about 45 mins and put some pressure with my thumb but its still there… i dunno… since its a lil greenish i dun think its a dead pixel is it??

  17. christian October 2, 2007 at 7:41 am #

hey mate, i found stuck pixel after 3 weeks of using my phone. A real pain in the arse green one. After 10 min of running your app i now have a perfect screen. So i really wanted to thank you for publishing this app.

  18. Knox October 2, 2007 at 11:49 pm #

Jeff, it sounds stuck, not dead. Though it seems VERY stuck. I wish this app was 100% but there are some unlucky ones out there. Try a few times and after the lcd heats a little then apply the light pressure. Good luck!

    k

I’ve got an iPod touch with this issue, and Apple refused to do anything about it, so I’m extremely glad to have found your app! I’ll give it a shot later – thank you very much for making it public!

  20. colin October 15, 2007 at 4:49 pm #

wow! Excellent work. I was really freaking out for a second.

I have the app bookmarked in case i ever need it again :)

  21. Adrian October 18, 2007 at 12:59 pm #

Hi Have a white dot on the bottom of my ipod touch ad hope your app will help in getting rid of it. Thanks for making this available. Thanks!

    Btw, I am from Singapore.

  22. Cliff October 18, 2007 at 8:28 pm #

From what I can tell, if the pixel is greenish, that’s a dead pixel. Dead pixels are very obvious no matter what color screen you’re viewing. This solution WILL NOT work no matter how long you run it (but try anyway). I had to exchange my iPod because if it.

Now it appears my exchanged iPod has a stuck pixel which is more whit-ish that comes and goes. So hopefully running this for awhile works. *fingers crossed*

  23. jeffs October 20, 2007 at 11:10 am #

I’ve had a stuck blue pixel for a few days. I tried out this app a few times, ran for 5 mins, 30 mins, etc. Didn’t help. Then I just ran it now for 10 mins, then “massaged” the screen with light-medium pressure. It fixed it! Thanks for suggestions all!

  24. dirk October 22, 2007 at 11:53 am #

Great website and thanks for the app. Unfortunately I havent had any success. I just bought my iPhone 1 week ago and I have had to swap already for 2 more brand new iPhones that have also had stuck pixels. I have ran your app on each phone for 30 mins and not one of them has been fixed. So Im am bummed. So now Im waiting for Apple to get a shipment of replacement iPhones in stock so I can swap for my 4th iPhone. I am still within the 14 days but am I being too picky, like the Apple Genius told me, or do I deserve to a brand new iPhone that is perfect?

  25. Jim October 25, 2007 at 12:11 am #

This is great, I had like 5 stuck pixels out of box and was pissed off and about to return it. Great site dude, you are the man

  26. Fendz November 1, 2007 at 3:58 am #

Knox, thanks for the app :)

How did you guys put pressure on the screen? Through the glass?

I’ve got the same problem as the dude from Singapore, 1 stuck pixel right down the bottom of the screen. Ran the app 3 times for about 30 mins at a time… no luck :(

  27. Jon November 4, 2007 at 12:33 am #

Awesome site. I found this site through Google and i got lucky. I had 1 stuck red pixel that i just noticed this morning and through out the day it annoyed me. Finally found the site tonight and run the apps for about 15 minutes, I massaged all around the red dot on the screen with my thumb while the apps was running. Great success…the stuck pixel is gone!!!! Thank you very much.

Thank you. I just drove home from Seattle to Vancouver at 2AM to fix a stuck pixel – and your thing is what did it.

  30. patrick November 19, 2007 at 11:07 pm #

Knox. Your are awesome! Worked like a charm.

  31. Knox November 21, 2007 at 7:01 am #

Glad it helped Jon, Siddhartha, Adam and Patrick – thanks for the feedback.

Fendz, light pressure does work. Though there is glass, it does flex slightly, don’t be timid. You will see the “color swirl” typical of pressure on an LCD.

  32. Corey November 21, 2007 at 4:37 pm #

I was begining to worry that my pixel was dead and now just stuck, but after 5 minutes with this app running, my problems are solved. Thank you so much!

  35. charisse November 28, 2007 at 8:32 am #

hi! tried this app but my problem is that the flashing can’t reach the lower left corner of the screen, which is where my 2 stuck pixels are located. i tried rotating and scrolling and all but the safari bars (uppermost and lowermost) are in the way. is there a workaround for this? can it cover the whole iPhone screen? thanks

  36. Mat December 5, 2007 at 1:00 am #

Thanks ….. saw the green dot in the middle of my screen. Did the search & 20 mins later, w/ a little massage …… hey presto, happy ending. Great work Knox.

  37. cadragon December 9, 2007 at 2:12 pm #

    Worked perfectly on ah iPhone!

I had an annoying green pixel in the middle of everything, let it run for no more than 5 minutes, applied pressure and now everything is ok!

    Thanks!! great app!

  38. Tyler December 10, 2007 at 3:42 am #

Hi Knox, I think it’s really cool of you to post up this app for people, I have a really annoying gray stuck pixel in the middle of my iPhone screen. I ran it for an hour, and then tonight for an hour and a half, but it doesn’t seem to work on mine. I do appreciate your effort to help though, it was worth a shot, so thank you.

  39. Knox December 10, 2007 at 8:22 pm #

I;m sorry it doesn’t work for you Tyler – did you apply any pressure around the pixel?

  40. Knox December 11, 2007 at 4:30 am #

charisse – if you’re still around email me and I’ll send you a variation for your issue.

  41. Alastair December 11, 2007 at 4:17 pm #

I found a light green pixel on my iPhone earlier this evening. I phoned up O2 (UK) and told them I had a dead pixel. I asked them if they had had any other instances of this happening – the guy said no. I was on the phone for 25 mins with no satisfactory conclusion. Whilst on the phone, I did a search on the net and found your website. So I tried your prog and after about 15 mins I could see the pixel flickering. A bit of screen rubbing and it was back to normal.

So, I just wanted to say thank you. This is obviously more common a problem than the guy at O2 thought. You’ve found a brilliant solution – well done. If it wasn’t for you then I would have had to send my phone back for repair which would have taken several days. I have it bookmarked now incase it happens again.

  42. Knox December 11, 2007 at 10:22 pm #

Alastair – That msg really made me happy when I saw it come in on my iPhone today. Great story and I’m glad it worked for you.

  43. andres December 12, 2007 at 3:11 pm #

hi know i been trying ur app but it doesnt work at all, when i bought my ipod touch it seems normal but after that i saw a movie in it, appears like little white dots, some of then smaller than others, i know that they are stuck-pixels but i tried ur app and it didnt work ,also i didnt massage the screen, i think that if i massage the screen it will work, but i dont know how to do it, if the ipod has to be off or not, after the video or while the video is runnig please help

  44. Knox December 15, 2007 at 1:50 pm #

andres – Pixels are all the same size – you are seeing something else. Possible dust under the glass – ouch. Yes – it needs to be turned on and pressure around the pixel (if that’s what your situation is) will help.

  45. andres December 16, 2007 at 8:31 am #

thanks, but i just changed my ipod for a new one, but this one also has stuck-pixels, they are not so many as the other one, i only count 2, i dont have wi-fi at my houseso i’ll have to try ur program at monday… can anyone tell me another good way to fix this pixels????? thanks by the way

  46. gbling December 18, 2007 at 12:19 pm #

I was so angry when i saw my green pixel. This app
    realy works. Thank You!

  47. Tyler December 18, 2007 at 2:45 pm #

I did try putting pressure around it, but pressure made the screen look warped(while I was applying it), so after a few minutes I was too scared to keep doing it. Thank you though, for your help =]

  48. Drew December 19, 2007 at 10:05 am #

Yet again you fixed another iPhone from a couple burdensome stuck pixels. Thanks for the app!! Oh and when are you gonna get a counter on here so we can get you a Nobel Prize =)

  49. frank b December 25, 2007 at 10:44 am #

 I was upset about my few stuck pixels and did not want to turn in my iphone for another new one. This totally worked on fixing my screen. Thanks and Merry Christmas.

  50. zenon December 26, 2007 at 6:27 pm #

hi nox. today i found out that i have about three or four stuck pixels. i do not know if their dead. but they are colored(some of them blue) well i run the app for about 2 times 5-6 minites each and i applied some presure also. it seems that it didn’t work. i am a bit of worried letting the app running longer cause when i exit the app and trying to run a video my screen acts really weird showing the video really messed up till i restart it.

  51. Jake December 27, 2007 at 10:15 am #

Hello, Knox. I got this one stuck white pixel at the left side of the screen and I wanted to run your app. But I have a question, will this stick more pixels by any chance? And what are the causes of stuck pixels? Thanks.

  52. Knox December 27, 2007 at 8:09 pm #

Drew – Noble prize would be nice, but a donation is too:)
    Glad it helped you.

  53. Kenneth December 28, 2007 at 1:23 pm #

Hey Knox, thanks for the app!

At first there was a blue pixel that was flashing off and on, and recently it remained permanent. After running the program for around 20 minutes i pressed around the pixel with my finger nail and it disappeared.

What’s kinda funny is it comes back sometimes like a phantom pixel, but when i rub around it, it disappears again.

I wonder if I have to use your app over and over since it feels like it may occur again. Thankfully it hasn’t popped up again, and if it does I’ll be sure to use your app!

    anyways, great job!!

  54. Ellis December 29, 2007 at 1:53 pm #

    knox, thank you so much!

i have had my ipod touch since like october.
working perfect then a few hours ago i discover a red pixel dead center of screen.

tried many ‘solutions’ none f which worked.

yours of course was the solution.

noticed the pixel flickering and then massaged the screen and surrounding area.

my ipod is restored to normality

    thank you again!

  55. zenon December 30, 2007 at 5:58 pm #

Hello Knox and sorry for mispelled your name on my first post. I tried you method several times and although it didn’t work i now that its a great app. I just wonder if you got any other ways of playing the flash colors on my ipod cause i do want to use it on full screen and safari browser to allow that. Also i do not know how much pressure should i put on the screen I’m bit of afraid put a lot of pressure. I do pull my fingers of when i notice that the LSD screen start to make those weird colors around my finger.

  56. gorka December 31, 2007 at 5:44 pm #

hello, well it doesnt work on my ipod, its a white dot not a greenish, i run the app for 30 min and nothing hapend, well i think its luck. thnks anyway

  57. Knox December 31, 2007 at 6:56 pm #

zenon – 5 minutes won’t be enough from the collective feedback i have. Pressure: don’t be too scared. Yes, there will be a little swirling of color, that’s normal, and a good sigh that you are applying enough (don’t go gung-ho though, I’m not responsible if you crack it – use common sense:) I’d let it go longer nad press next to the pixel a bit, if it’s going to work you will see it happen before your eyes. GOOD LUCK.

    k

  58. Knox December 31, 2007 at 7:00 pm #

    gorka – I’m sorry:(

Jake – No one has contacted me saying that – and yes, I used it on my 2 iPhones as well. I’m sure “over-doing” it isn’t good though :???:

Cause of stuck pixels – bad luck, physical defect, and more bad luck. It rains on some days too. Most likely, you have them on a desktop LCD as well – it happens with them.

  59. Ben January 7, 2008 at 12:48 pm #

I have just bought a new iPhone and immediately saw an annoying blue stuck pixel slap bang in the middle of my screen. I was about to go back to the store when I Google’d and found your app.

Left the screen flashing for 10 mins, applied a little pressure, and now it’s gone.

    Thanks!

  60. antroh January 18, 2008 at 5:57 am #

    Hi there!
I’ve been trying this solution with my ipod touch, but my problem is that the stuck pixel is on the very left side of the screen, so I’m not able to push on it after a while of running the aplication, so the stuck pixel remains there =(
Anybody with the same problem? Any solution?
    Thanks mates!

  61. Knox January 19, 2008 at 5:11 am #

    antroh, that…. sucks

  62. Denis January 20, 2008 at 9:58 am #

Hey there, Bought an ipod touch on Halloween last year and noticed a blue dot which I knew straight away was a stuck pixel. In the past I had a G4 imac which had two which I did nothing about but this time investigated my options. I ran the video for a while and did nothing so tried pressing on the screen. The original blue dot is sorted. I have now one really feint dot instead. I guess it is really trial and error and a bit of luck. Still disappointing to get a dead pixel on such a small lcd screen that set me back $549 AUD. Not really good enough. Thanks for the tips and software though.

  63. Deb January 23, 2008 at 9:18 pm #

Didn’t work for me…my dog liked the effect though.

  64. Mesh January 31, 2008 at 12:52 pm #

    Knox,

This thing is amazing. I, in a drunken state, accidently threw my phone at the wall and of course stuck pixels became evident. Yeah this wasnt smart, but I am dumb.

As for this program, it really works. I wish I could explain how big this one grey spot was. it was literally a square centimeter. After using this program for even five minutes, and its fixing it slowely but surely.

    Thanks.

  65. marksedge January 31, 2008 at 4:58 pm #

dude this is amazing great work.

a lot of people will love you for this.

  70. J Daniel February 20, 2008 at 10:22 pm #

This worked perfectly! I let the application run for a couple of minutes while turning my screen vertically and horizonally. I then applied pressure with my thumb and Walla! I was so frustrated about this when I’ve only had my iPhone for 24 hours! Thanks so much!

  71. Foreigner February 25, 2008 at 7:10 pm #

Thank you loads. Im a foreign exchange student in America, just got the Ipod touch a month ago. Had been using it fine for a month, until suddenly this kid related to the family im staying with moves in.

Asks to use, uses it all day and gives back to me with a dead battery and guess what, a dead pixel. I know it wasnt like that when i got here from school so he didnt take proper care of it.

I was about to go knock him out cold until i tried to find this, found the site on a search engine and tried.

What i did was use one lamp right next to the screen and leave the program running for 35 minutes. After that the green bugger was flickering, so he was, and i massaged it for a while and now its gone!!!

I still want to knock him out but i guess know hes owing you one. Thanks for the application. Not giving my ipod to people i dont trust with it anymore, im not.

  72. antitofu March 9, 2008 at 7:16 pm #

knox, thanks for the awesome finding! it worked it worked. left the iphone for 30mins and guess what? That silly lil green pixel disappeared!!! thanks dude. i owe you a beer

  73. Gavin March 11, 2008 at 11:20 pm #

I had my ipod touch for a week when I discovered my little white pixel watching an apple keynote. I immediately thought it was dead, and was frustrated to find out you need three for apple to replace it. Anyways, I was sort of coming to terms with it, because it really only shows on a black background, and I for some reason decided to google up the problem. I’m running it right now with crossed fingers, I think I’m somewhere around 15 minutes now, o luck yet, but hopeful. It has started to slowly shift though!

It seems that the green and blue pixels are easiest to fix, white and red seem to be harder from what I’ve read here.

hey knox, i had bad luck. it returned after 15 minutes. now i have been running the app for 20 minutes and its still there. let’s hope it will vanish. any other tips?

  78. Knox March 21, 2008 at 12:04 pm #

Sorry to hear that. Are you in a cold climate? Its affected by temp, try massaging it too and after running it put it in your pocket. I wish it was 100% – good luck.

  79. MIke March 21, 2008 at 12:19 pm #

its not that cold. hope it helps. I heard a guy who got rid of the problem by playing SUper Mario on NESrom. can you believe that?:)

  81. MIke March 21, 2008 at 5:57 pm #

I told you before that the stuck pixel got back after 15 mins. i run the app for 60 minutes. it vanished and returned after 5 minutes, i massaged it for few seconds and it went away, now it has been gone for 3 hours. Thanks again!

Would you think the store would replace it after a week even though they import these?

Hey i had a line about 1.5 mm long of stuck pixels.. after running this program and applying pressure it is probably 1/4 that size. so im guessing its fine to just keep it running and keep applying pressure.. its been going for maybe 10 min.

  90. VMR June 17, 2008 at 4:03 pm #

Thank you! You have no idea what you have done for me by creating this program. I’m extremely OCD about my electronics. I bought a new psp ’cause my old one had a tiny but very annoying scratch that wouldn’t go away. The stuck pixels on my ipod touch nearly killed me. You just saved me like $700. YOU ARE MY NEW GOD.

  91. ericmatt August 2, 2008 at 10:26 am #

So I had my doubts about this thing. But I figured that the positive comments couldn’t be wrong. I knew that every situation is different so there would be a chance that mine would stay with that annoying pixel in its stuck state. I too, am OCD about my electronics. However, I ran this program for 30 minutes, pressed on the screen a little bit and watched as the pixel flickered and eventually fixed itself. We’ll see how long it stays that way. Until then, thank you SO much for this! I will also be making a donation!!

  92. gterrell October 23, 2008 at 10:36 pm #

Many thanks. I had 1 white stuck pixel very near the center of my iPod Touch screen. I ran your app for about 15 minutes and applied gentle pressure around the area of the problem pixel and it is gone! Saved me a trip to the Apple Store.

  93. jdkphotos November 19, 2008 at 10:10 pm #

I had a red stuck pixel and I ran this app but didnt have much luck at first..and the finger pressure thing didn’t work.. but while running the program again I tapped my iphone on my desk as I ran this app… Left side…..then right…facing up…and facing down and repeated about 3 times…and poof!!! Dead pixel was gone!!! Now you dont have to throw it down or anything…just a firm good tap worked for me

  94. Tonyscigars November 21, 2008 at 6:55 pm #

I’m looking forward to running this app in a few days when my “new” iphone arrives… I got a great deal on it due to half a dozen stuck pixels.

  95. israeliguy November 23, 2008 at 8:32 am #

Thanks a lot, worked like a charm. Had a red pixel, run the program fro 15 minutes, then massaged it. At first I had a rough shock when more stuck pixels arrived. then they all disappeared. I’m very happy now.

  96. Shaun November 24, 2008 at 12:59 am #

    OMG
I applied a screen protector and after running a small card around to get the bubbles out I noticed I had a blue dot. I haven’t been that pissed in a while. So a quick google search led me to everythingicafe.com where someone had the same problem and someone else suggested your website. I was skeptical at first because it seemed so weird to me. After running it on my iphone for a good 20 minutes I applied pressure and it worked like a charm. I couldnt be any happier. I REALLY appreciate you hosting this application along with the detailed instructions. I definitely will be recommending all my friends to check out your site. THANK YOU!

  97. kong November 29, 2008 at 9:08 pm #

Hi, I read this quite interesting… but I cannot find anyway I can do the test on my phone. Do I need to download from Installer or Cydia? how to run the test???

  98. Knox December 2, 2008 at 8:50 pm #

    @kong
You just click to the link on your iPhone. Don’t download anything, it’s just a simple HTML webapp.

  99. vikram December 3, 2008 at 11:23 pm #

Knox, I Love You. I Had Had My Iphone For About A Month And After a Rough New Year’s Eve I Found A Red And Blue Dot On My Screen. After A Moment Of Anger At The Iphone I Searched The Web And Found Your Site. Left Your App Running For About 15 Mins And Then Applied Some Pressure To The Screen Around The Pixels For About 30 Seconds And Hey Presto My Screen Is Good As New. Thanks Again, Tom. And A Happy New Year

Dude… I was sick because I finally got my phone the way I wanted it and I thought I had a bad pixel… I soon realized that it was stuck, but had no way to fix it… until I stumbled across this page. Needless to say, I now have a working pixel again! :-)

I will be donating! Thank you for the good work!

    I love you

Had a stuck bright green pixel right under the time on my 3G iPhone. Thought it was dead and asked a few others at work if apply had a policy for them. Did a search on google and found your app. Let it run 10 minutes and rubbed it, no luck. Let it run 30 more minutes while reading the comments and rubbed the spot a little harder. My face looked like  after I saw the little green dot disappear. Thanks Knox!

  109. alex March 16, 2009 at 9:42 am #

  115. Kelly June 8, 2009 at 9:02 am #

    Kelly from Kingston, Ontario, Canada.

Today my iPhone got a green dot in the top middle of the screen.

I found this site and I was a little skeptical at first… I allowed the screen to flash for around 15 mins with no luck. I then tried to ‘rub’ the dead pixel with no luck… I guess I was a little frustrated – so I used my thumb and squeezed the screen pretty hard right where the dead pixel was.

The little green dot is now gone.

    Thanks a MILLION!!

    Kelly

  116. Lee June 17, 2009 at 1:21 pm #

  119. ronDEEZY July 8, 2009 at 12:11 am #

You rule! I thought I had a dead pixel until I decided to look it up on Google and searched “dead pixel on iphone” and “red pixel on iphone” then found this website to fix it! Ran it for about 3 minutes then tapped the red stuck pixel and voila! It’s back to perfect! Thank you very much. I remember seeing this when the first iPhone came out and didn’t think much of it but now I understand…GENIUS! Must have saved so many people by now!!! ;-) Thank you!

  120. Dammy July 18, 2009 at 2:16 pm #

  121. bhom July 23, 2009 at 3:19 am #

Just wanted to let everybody know that this program really does work! Spotted a small green dot on my iphone screen today, it drove me absolutely bananas even though it was so small. Found this program, ran it for about 30 minutes, rubbed around the dot, and it disappeared! Don’t be afraid to apply some pressure. It didn’t disappear until I rubbed a bit harder, enough to see discoloration.

Yes, Knox, I’m buying you a drink. Thanks for the program! You are a life saver.

  122. CV July 30, 2009 at 5:46 am #

Got my iPhone 3GS yesterday and found a so called ‘stuck’ pixel today :( . It is white and very small but it annoys me! I’m running the pixel fix right now on my iPhone, hope it works  ! Thanks for sharing anyways :) .

  130. yatesl October 24, 2009 at 12:35 pm #

A good few years after creation, this is still doing it’s job. I got two blue pixels appearing on my screen. An hour of this running, it unfortunately didn’t work, even with some pressing.

However, turning it on and off a couple of times, whilst holding the pixels down, and running this whilst doing the same, and it looks like they’re gone for good.

    Many thanks.

  131. bbrian017 November 2, 2009 at 6:26 pm #

Thanks I did it for about 5 seconds and it worked perfect!

  132. Zappa November 18, 2009 at 12:25 am #

Had about 25 pixels frozen red and grey, it took a full hour to get them all but it worked. Great little app.

  133. scatman10 December 1, 2009 at 4:18 pm #

Also for those with large clusters of stuck pixels (normally gray) this app seems to be working well. It has def. minimized the size of mine slowly but surely. I’ve been running the app for an hour now and it has minimized the size of the gray areas on the top of my screen…..normally not reachable by the app but I turned my iphone landscape and thats doing the trick.

  134. Aviv December 19, 2009 at 9:24 am #

    Dude!!!
    ilove you!!
    it totally worked!!
    i thought i had a dead one

i ran it about a 10 min’ and than put some pressure next to pixel
and i had allso a green one and he disappeared i dont think that the green ones are dead….

  136. ryan January 7, 2010 at 8:08 pm #

  138. Joker3607 February 6, 2010 at 12:53 am #

I have an iPhone that is unlocked and jail broken and i use my iPhone a lot and i also tether it to my pc quite a bit. and i have this grey stripe with a few hints of red in it going from one side to the other at the top of the screen. and every other day or so i notice a bit of change in the line. some areas clear up and then a few days later they are grey again. the grey is from the very top of the screen to the top of the numbers in the clock. its very ugly and i found a grey wallpaper to try to hide it. and running this Lil program for about 10 mins or so and applying pressure to the pixel area, i’m noticing that its clearing up a bit. i’ll repost if im able to get half of the stripe or better gone. i believe that the grey stripe is due to the tethering. i’ve seen similar on the internet, but none has been as bad as mine.

  139. Gil February 6, 2010 at 1:22 am #

    Thanks!!!
I had an ugly red stuck pixel in the top half of the screen. I googled and found your website.
After running you web app for almost 20 minutes, the stuck pixel was totally fixed!

    Thanks a lot!
A beer is on the way…

  140. Bryce February 10, 2010 at 9:16 pm #

OH DANG!!! IT WORKED! Okay, I left it on for 2 minutes(I couldn’t wait 30 minutes like others…), and I pressed REALLY HARD. Press it like your screen is discolored and like it’s going to break. Then, it fixed it! :D ILY. I’d buy you the WHOLE bar, but I don’t have a online banking account ):

  141. eric February 15, 2010 at 6:29 pm #

About 15 minutes ago a red pixel showed up right in the middle of my screen. I’ve had my 3GS for well over a year, so I though it was the “beginning of the end.” Being very tech-literate but not necessarily tech-savvy, I found your website on Google. Bottom line, 5 minutes of the app and a little massaging, and the pixel is gone. Thanks so much!

  169. kris January 15, 2011 at 8:41 pm #

This guy is the man, firstly, you dont even have to download it, you just go onto the link using your iphone! sorry buddy but i thought it was a load of BS at first, especially when i read that your advising people to massage the screen! But out of desperation (btw i had a green pixel on my screen after dropping my iphone) i tried it, i had it running for only 5 minutes!! And yes i massaged the screen too, actually when i massaged it, the pixel dissapeared! Thanks so much man, i would of felt grumpy looking at my deffective screen all the time! cant believe it worked for me too :) cant thank u enough :) im still running the app now just to make sure it completely goes! your the man!!

  178. Grisel February 28, 2011 at 8:06 pm #

hi , i have something which i believe is a stuck pixel. its only one small dot but its really annoying me. I just got this iphone 4 i noticed it like the 3rd or 4th day of using it. The only time it really stands out is when a white background is shown. It doesnt appear in black backgrounds, but wen a colored background is shown you can still see it, accept it doesnt appear as white it kind of blends into the the color a little but i can still notice the dimmed white spot. Anyways, i tried your app numerous times already, i let it run for quiet a while and it still hasnt come off. So im wondering is this a dead pixel, if not what do u suggest i should do … is there any other ways in which i can try and fix this before taking it to the apple store cuz its really annoying me lol

  179. Jared March 6, 2011 at 10:32 am #

Nevermind my previous question. I ran the app for 25 mins anyway hoping the heat would reach the stuck pixels in the top corner. It worked! Thanks a lot!!

Hey Knox! Thanks so much! I’m currently running this app as I type. I thought I was going to have a seizure, I wasn’t prepared for that. LOL. Don’t know if it’s worked yet, but thanks for putting this out there! If I had money in my paypal account I’d buy you a beer! I’ll have to come back for that. :)

Hey everyone, this is now Full Screen enabled.

It’s really great to see so many people having benefited from this. Kudos to you Knox!

So here’s my issue: I have two stuck, blue pixels on my 1st gen iPad. They appeared within days of each other. Won’t get to try out your app until I head to university on Monday (as I don’t have WiFi at home).

But anyway, do you think it might work? I reckon the thick screen/glass of the iPad might pose a problem, though.

    Thanks in advance!

I’m not sure about the iPads yet – I guess I’ll find out when mine has a problem:) Good luck K-Z.

I think I have some dead pixels, Is there any way I can fix it without changing the LCD, or at least change their position? Please answer ;) !

  185. Knox April 26, 2011 at 9:58 pm #

Blaž – If they are “dead” then it’s a hardware issue that needs repair via Apple. Sorry man.

Does my phone need to be jailbroken to install this app?

    • Knox May 13, 2011 at 7:36 pm #

@Mohsin – Not at all, it runs as a web-application. You’ll get a link, then save it to your home screen and you’ll be all set. No jailbreak needed.
