Great post Carolyn, thank you! The auto industry fought the internet and got burned. The music industry fought online music and lost too (the Clash fought the, and the law won :-). I agree that real estate professionals need to embrace these changes and add value to customers and clients with knowledge and expertise and relationships instead of hoarding. Keep up the good work. -PB

Carolyn, This is a great article. Well written and to the point. To call search engines scrapper sites is ridiculous. Search engines help us navigate the web. Scraper sites steal content and display it as their own. Unfortunately the majority of Realtors are in truth not very tech savvy and wouldn't know a scrapper site if they saw one.

For some reason the Realtor Designation E-Pro just popped into my head. A Realtor can be designated an Internet Professional if they can send e-mail and browse the web. What a joke. When I think "Internet Professional" I think of a person who spent years building servers, studied unix, htmls, php, mysql and creates web applications as a hobby, not someone who can send e-mail and browse the web.

Sorry for getting off tangent. Great Post. Looking forward to your next tweet :-)

Carolyn brings light the issue - consumers WILL search and FIND online. You can't stop the natural progression.
